Nature

There’s a spiritual quality about photography. When you’re in nature, you’re in creation – and photographing or focusing on nature feels like communing with the Creator. Almost like tracking an animal, with heightened awareness there’s a pulling sensation at the edge of the eyes. The little ferns unrolling themselves right there in the light, they are shouting like little children: ‘Take my picture!

In the beginning, Tessa Macintosh preferred photographing people because she enjoyed the relationship aspect of interacting with them. Nature didn’t seem to speak to her that much. But in the North the land is such a dominating feature, ever-present, it becomes a strong entity in and of itself. Ultimately there’s the obvious reality of interaction , communing with the land. Tessa found herself listening to it, waiting for it to speak. She became op en to the land as she was with people.

Patterns, phenomena, playful movement. The world’s flora and fauna never cease to be exciting subjects. These photographs and thousands of others are available for purchase.
