Early days
In her early days as a photographer, Tessa worked for the Native Press newspaper and Government of the Northwest Territories. This meant she could travel to small indigenous communities in the Mackenzie Valley NWT and what is now Nunavut. Thanks to the many opportunities to mingle and associate with Inuit and First Nations, Tessa was quick to become an ally of First Nations. This was a welcomed quality when indigenous people started becoming more political.
